| Gina Wall has been designing cult T-shirts for the past seven years and her fans include Curtis Stigers, Jon Bon Jovi and Formula 1 racing supremo Eddie Irvine. She has been experimenting with fabric painting since she was a child and after leaving school joined her parents' graphic design company where she honed her design skills and built-up a range of T-shirts and waistcoats in her spare time. "I decided to make T-shirts because it was the easiest and most accessible way to show my handiwork", she explains. "I sent one in to 'J17' magazine, they featured it and it's really taken off from there." |
| Gina's love of music led her to target American crooner Curtis Stigers. She designed a waistcoat for him and sent it to a television studio where she heard he was doing an interview. That evening, Curtis played a gig in Folkestone and Gina was in the audience. "I couldn't believe it when he took his jacket off and was wearing my waistcoat! I have been designing for him ever since." By approaching Jon Bon Jovi's personal assistant, Gina managed to strike-up a friendship with the singer and now she regularly designs clothes for him. |
| The T-shirt range features bright colours, kitsch and retro prints and slogans including 'Adrenalin Junkie', 'Lady Killer', 'Blonde Bomber' and the wacky 'Bob' and 'Doris'. "I'm really inspired by the 60s, 70s old pop art and psychedelic influences. My dad is a huge Santana fan and when I was a baby, putting on a Santana record always stopped me crying", she remembers. "I love bright colours and things that clash in a nice way. I like breaking rules by putting things together that don't usually go together." Gina's own wardrobe is a combination of high street clothes from shops like Warehouse mixed with pieces from Oxfam, which she then customises.
