Before becoming a menswear designer, Ken Odimah worked in advertising and marketing. He honed his natural talent for design during a short course at Central St Martins and in 1989 launched his own label. His clients include Brett Anderson, Jay Kay and Omar. His latest collection is inspired by the 60s silhouette of John Steed from 'The Avengers' and cowboys. Fine tailoring is Ken's trademark and spring/summer 99 focuses on slim-line trousers (flat fronts as well as single pleats) and single lapel jackets with pocket detailing. Colours are muted and mainly natural with stone, camel, icy white and khaki. Clever details include tie cuffs, flip pockets, and six button cuffs. Cropped jackets with low-waisted trousers give a Modish feel. Ken injects humour into the collection with that fashion bogeyman the stripey shirt - it's so 'city' and so 80s you've gotta laugh!
