Northbrook College

Despite being based in possibly the most uninspiring town in Britain (Worthing), Northbrook College runs the country's leading menswear design course. This year's BA collections are innovative, cheeky and far more imaginative than most collections seen at LMFW. Think Jarvis Cocker meets Superman with a Japanese twist. Trousers consistently experiment with fabric and form. There are three-quarter length versions with slashed pointed hems, knee swinging jeans with silver panelling and urban puffa pants. Fabrics span microfibre, classic cotton and denim and colours include white, shocking pinks and reds. Themes are eclectic and international with a range of looks including Tokyo techno boy, Australian outback sheep farmer, cosmic cricketers and space cowboys. Eleven students contributed to the show (Mick Commane, Lucy Morris, Yogesh Patel, Paul Johnston, Vanessa Skinner, Adam Weir, Jay Borley, Amanda Blok, Percy Gilbert, Stuart Lownes and Esther Pattenden) which rocked the Royal Horticultural Hall and buzzed the majority of onlookers.
