John Richmond
John Richmond is an established British designer known for his ability to fuse master tailoring and innovative style. His rock'n roll, 'rebel with a cause' bias attracts an international audience from Tokyo to Australia, as well as star clients including Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Garbage and Madonna.
His latest collection entitled 'The White Label', lives up to these high expectations and comprises three main looks: New Sportswear, The Industrial Debonair and Beat Generation. Screeching music created a sense of urgency in the audience and assisted the big build-up as New Sportswear crashed onto the catwalk. Here, modern sports shapes are reworked into traditional fabrics including tweed, herringbone, and heavy cable-knitted wools. Funnel necks and simple trousers are worn as protective wear with concealed pocket details and nylon panelling.
The Industrial Debonair look rocks, with sharp, leather biker jackets, waxed fabrics, oil printed T-shirts and overlayed body pouch and security hip bags for the ultimate accessories. Parka's, pleated-skirt front panels and heavy long-backed jumpers are also key looks. Acid orange and city red gave an injection of colour to the black basics. Graduated colour Crombies and long wool camel coats add a touch of sophistication to baggy denim trousers and golf hats. Highlights of mousse pink lift the mood of the Beat Generation.
