Karen Walker Karen Walker's collection, entitled Queenie Was A Dog, is a fun-loving range with loads of childhood and fairground references. It's especially appealing to anyone who is a bit of a tomboy at heart. There was an enormous queue outside the tiny Conduit Street cake boutique where the show was held and the PRs were on hand to explain that too many people had been invited and the venue was very small. Luckily, those that didn't squeeze into the den of cakes managed to at least see the clothes from the street as the models were using a shop a couple of doors away as a changing room. The atmosphere was pretty charged and even though some people couldn't see much, there was a very positive feeling about these clothes. Shorts, dungarees, front-less tunic dresses, slip dresses, floppy hats, Doc Marten boots, hoodies, and square-collared trench coats all feature. There's a blue pony print which appears on hats, dresses, kimonos and underwear and works really well with black pieces. There are French influences in the styling (berets, suspenders, thigh length socks) and although inspired by fairground (check out the sinister clown print) this is a really eclectic collection by a women with a great talent and a real sense of fun. |
