Debonair Debonair Most catwalk shows are private events to which access is strictly limited and usually, if you haven't got an invitation, you can't get in. Debonair Debonair's show took place underneath the covered area in Portobello Market and while there was an invited audience, many more people from the local community turned up and watched the show. It was listed in the Blow off-schedule guide as starting at 12noon, but there was no sign of the designer until much later. When things did get going, it was full throttle entertainment and energy. Photographer and TV presenter Normski took the stage and introduced the collection "Spring summer 04, yes it's Debonair, let me hear you make some noise", while two breakdancers made some mad moves and graffiti artist Alex worked live at the back of the stage on two Debonair images. The entire collection is white and features towelling karate suits, tight dresses (that barely cover your bottom) with zip details, knotted T-shirts worn off the shoulder, and Debonair 'sunglasses' which spell out the label's name in metal. The collection introduced the first Debonair menswear range - white baggy denim jeans, fitted shirts and boiler suits worn open to the waist. As you can imagine, the bridal dresses were pretty unconventional - huge nets skirts with skimpy kerchief tops which revealed one model's boobs. This show was a celebration, topped off by artist Alex spray painting some of the outfits at the end. |
