Ann-Sofie Back The Westbourne Studios was the venue for this show. As people shuffled in their seats, boxes of champagne bottles were wheeled around on trolleys (evidence that there was a fashion party happening soon) and, at the last minute, a women with a large, smoky grey dog headed for the balcony to watch while assistants lit candles placed amongst an assembly of household lamps and lights at the end of the catwalk. Then, to the Rollings Stones' Paint It Black, Ann-Sofie Back grabbed the audience's attention by starting the show with the finale. Models walked out clapping and whopping to a smilimg audience and the sound of The Stones. Ann-Sofie hails from Stockholm and studied for an MA at Central Saint Martins. Judging by the audience, she's exciting a lot of interest from Japan. The collection could be inspired by Rome: white toga-style, thigh length dresses with knot details were shown with Roman leather strappy sandals. Dresses are central and most follow a layered theme - many are shimmering see-through pieces combined with under dresses or slips and blouses. Along with smocky frocks, there are some killer raincoats. Back's Macs have intense oversized hoods and low, low belts. This collection definitely has an attitude and a feel all its own. |
