Few new designers have made such a strong impact in such a short time as Blaak and judging by the reaction to its latest collection, this design duo is a fashion phenomenon. St Martin's graduates Aaron Sharif and Sachiko Okado have worked once more with stylist Andrew Davis to present a collection which oozes originality and style. Entitled Blaak Magic, the collection draws inspiration from the West, the East and Africa with coiled rope style belts, braided hair and shell accessories providing a unifying narrative. There are slimline single breasted jackets, tiered skirts, ruched cotton tops, lingerie-inspired dresses and sequin splattered evening dresses. The menswear offering includes bright knitwear with innovative V-neck panel jumpers, leather trousers and biker jackets. The fusing of shapes, details and a vibrant colour palette gives the collection a genuine contemporary feel - forget tired retro revivals, Blaak ain't looking back but is definitely helping to push fashion forward.
