Set in an underground car park, Michiko Koshino's spring collection is an eclectic mix of fabrics and styles with apocalyptic overtones. First denim - a fabric which Koshino understands totally. Pale grey denim shirts, raw edged denim capes and skateboarder style super baggy jeans, jeans with a double waistband (one drawstring one regular) and jackets made into dresses all suggest that Koshino has an unlimited imagination when it comes to creating clothes in denim. Sleeveless jackets, baggy trousers and skirts in shiny nylon (which looks like parachute fabric) appear alongside Oriental inspired toggle jackets and drawstring trousers to create an urban rice paddy look. Cotton skirts, shirts and jackets for women feature raw edges and jackets had layers of cotton sewn into the lapel. A blazer covered with a selection of handsewn patches and fabric badges is particularly groovy. For anyone not inspired by Koshino's streetwear vision, there are forest green frocks with tight bodices and ragged edges that look like they have been plucked from Fairyland.
