His first show to be billed on the official LFW schedule certainly caused a ruckus. Arkadius, who's hailed as the "new Galliano", has created a collection that demonstrates both his technical ability and child-like imagination. His spring/summer 2001 range entitled 'Paulina', is inspired by Polish celebrations and transforms quaint folk costumes into amazing eccentric outfits. Bales of hay bursting from the derrieres of pleated skirts, billowing blouses and fake hair ties are just some of the many quirks of the collection. Other highlights include a basque made out of wooden birds, a dress sculpted from wicker and a light green pinstripe trouser suit emblazoned with prints of chickens.
