New designer Antonio Ciutto's spring/summer 2001 collection is inspired by the late 80s and early 90s, but could have been subtitled 'A Night At Razzle's Discotheque, Circa 1986'. Pastel shades, white and gold combine for a slightly slutty look while Ciutto champions the return of tiny boxing shorts, double-breasted jackets, mini skirts and the ra-ra skirt. Meanwhile his abstract prints and sculptural cuts are thoroughly modern. Mixing trash with luxury, Ciutto - a former Latin American dancer and architect - manages to give a hard edge to items once considered tacky. Highlights of the collection include a strapless denim ra-ra dress and a bold yellow and black low-cut dress. Set in an East End pub filled with exotic curios including stuffed animals and a live parrot, Ciutto's first catwalk show was the perfect complement to his commonplace yet eccentric collection.
