Julien MacDonald
'Frock and Roll' is Julien MacDonald's offering for spring/summer 2000 and, as the title suggests, it's about upfront glamour, swagger and acid colours. Presented at Camden's historic Roundhouse, the show featured an opening by the cast of the musical De La Guarda who performed a trapeze routine through a paper ceiling before punching their way through to the screaming audience. The opening also included shooting stars, mini fireworks and an explosion of balloons and paper. The collection features green leather hipster trousers, sparkling bikinis, plastic dresses, A-line shift dresses in abstract prints as well as cobwebbed knitwear pieces that are MacDonald's signature. The colour palette is a surreal celebration of the brightest shades of green, yellow, pink and blue working together to create a collection as vibrant as a sweet shop. Mel G brought the house done when she closed the show and treated everyone to a freaky dance.
