Alexandre Herchovitch
This is Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchovitch's second official showing at London Fashion Week and his first collection for the new millennium mixes ultra modern deconstructed pieces with floaty feminine outfits. White dominates the colour palette and both male and female models adorned blond Japanese wigs and pale faces, giving the collection and eerie sci-fi feel. For men, the designer offers a fresh approach to the preppy look with pink check trousers worn with criss-cross tank tops. Suiting stayed clam with high-back jackets and plain black sporty combinations. Much of the womenswear looks androgenous: low waisted trousers with back slits, organza tops and simple shirts. Dashes of colour set a romantic tone, soft pink latex is used for a 'one leg longer' than other catsuit and in a hole-infested dress and a blood red dress appeared alongside a ruffled waist black airtex dress. The only downer was that most people left the show with the sound of bells whose clanging accompanied the show, still ringing in our ears. |
