Helen David English Eccentrics
Helen David, a well established British designer, is recognised for
creating clothes that epitomise the true spirit of our artistic England.
David's autumn/winter 99 collection, 'Longitude', manages to fuse modern style and bohemian overtones into a gracefully eccentric
collection. Velvet, beading and applique move in to new realms. Simple
dresses are transformed into fantastical frocks that are destined to see
in the new millennium. Dresses are adorned with beautiful embroidery, as are
calf-length skirts, cuffs and collars.
Fabrics and colours are luxuriously
decadent: red felt, magenta georgette, misty grey mohair, powdery blue
sheepskin and sequinned fleece knits. Silver bias-cut dresses with trails
add sexiness, yet are merely an introduction to the final piece - the
Quicksilver wedding dress, worn by Sophie Anderton (television presenter and
model). Without any doubt, Helen David's pieces are set to become collectibles.
