    Central Saint Martins

The eagerly awaited Central Saint Martins MA show, provided a grand finale to London Fashion Week. The first collection by Ting Peng caused some confusion as her womenswear paraded down the catwalk without music, certainly a novel idea! This was the start of several white collections that look to the millennium for inspiration. Menswear is the focus for only seven students featuring wearable yet innovative pieces (although we could live without the wellington boots offered by one student!). Leather is widely used, worn as head cloths and what looked like a bullet-proof vest (holes included!). Many of the seasons key trends seen throughout the week have been picked upon and translated well. Of course, St Martins have a lot to live up to, so fashion victimisation filtered through with outfits that distorted the body. Armholes disappeared, faces were concealed, shoulders were oversized, jumpers grew hunchbacks and collars multiplied into many layers.
