Copperwheat Blundell
British design duo Copperwheat Blundell, who were forced to show off-schedule due to their sponsorship by L'Oreal (competitor to LFW's official sponsor Vidal Sassoon), presented an incredibly wearable collection at The Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane. The audience including Baby Spice, Lulu and Louise seemed impressed by the selection of understated chic.
The collection mainly consists of black items and focuses on equestrian influences as well as military looks. Khaki and dark grey shades are the only indications of colour and are worn uni or in combination with black. While the equestrian theme is enforced through accessories such as whips, blinkers and black riding boots the military style outfits feature heavy double-breasted coats and belted jackets; upper arm badges and massive binoculars round up the look. Knee-length shift dresses feature asymmetric hemlines adorned with fringes. Side-slits reaching right up to the bottom add sexiness to skirts and dresses. Fabrics are an interplay of leather and synthetics as well as classic wool and fleece. Simple cuts and shapes with sophisticated detailing are key to the collection that cleverly fuses elements of modern tailoring and sportswear.
