    Betty Jackson

Contemporary classics with a twist are Betty Jackson's speciality. 'Eclectic Electric', the name of her a/w 99 collection sums up perfectly the nature of the clothes. Unstructured, tactile and floaty separates are mixed with harsh leathers and tailored elements. The 'Russian rag doll' inspiration translates well into uneven and draped felt-finished jersey skirts and caped swing-jackets. Frilly-edges on shirts and long skirts re-inforce the theme, as do embroidery and raw-bonded hems. Fine cobweb knits and wool gabardine are also dominant features.

The colour palette is sumptuous yet subtle: smokey grey and rosewood pink, dashes of deep red, ivory cream and sage green. Classic black and white combinations add a harsher sophistication to the romantic pieces.
