    Amaya Arzuaga

Although Spanish-born designer Amaya Arzuaga, is best known for her knitwear creations, her autumn/winter collection 'Sapphire & Steel', offers much more. Structured leathers and neoprene coats contrast with stretch mohair and fine cobweb knits to present a soft-military look. Long aprons, backless gilets and full-length tailored coats are in a combination of khaki and dark blue. Pillar-box red, claret and white breaks-up the darker colours to provide a strong look.

Soft detailing such as asymmetric draped hemlines, delicate pleating and cap sleeves are in a variety of fabrics: soft organza, silken wools, rubber and foam. The evening look is crammed with deconstructed classics that surprise. Flowing gowns with side-splits reveal slim-line trousers and overtly high necks have dangerously low backs, whilst knitted snoods and jumpers are layered over strapless columned dresses. Her Spanish roots formed a major theme for the show, with a finalŽ featuring famous Flamenco duo Sara Baras and Montse Cortes.
