Despite the murmurings from fashion journos that Red or Dead have lost their edge, they showed an inspiring collection of funny yet totally wearable clothes that snatch ideas from Cornwall to Clapham. The countryside was a major theme with rustic cord jodphurs, pedal pushers with buttons at the knee, checked shirts and Aran sweaters. Think of a folk group on a drum and bass vendetta and you're almost there. Ankle swinging trousers worn with beetle crushers appeared alongside straight-legged cords, 3/4 length army and brightly coloured waxed trousers. Dark denim forms a major part of the RoD autumn/winter collection with jeans, jackets and dungaree dresses all featuring visible orange stitching. Tweed suits with matching pork pie hats for men and women reinforced the Hemingway talent for tailoring, while pencil skirts worn with cropped tops, boiled wool jumpers and knee-length boots added a 70s feel. Kinky kilts appeared over trousers and most outfits were accompanied by knee-high diamond socks. Other accessories include beards and sideburns (confirming that hairy faces are back) and for your feet there's desert boots, brogues and Chelsea boots for extra comfy rambling. The final piece shown was a blood red scented dress produced in association with Fabergé. Apparently, the frock retains the scent of Impulse's new body spray, I-D, even after washing!
