Amaya Arzuaga is Spain's current Designer of the Year and her decision to show at London Fashion Week is further endorsement of this city's increasing fashion status. Her collections are already available in over 70 UK outlets, and it's likely she will be attract many more customers in autumn/winter 97. Amaya is best known for her knits and this show featured a huge range of knitwear pieces from jumper dresses, through coats, cropped jumpers and cardigans. Mixing chenille with Lycra, Amaya creates pieces which look slinky, sexy and very easy to wear. Organic and earthy colours dominate with burnt orange, rust, sky blue and many shades of green. Colourful stripes (from chevron through to blocks) are used throughout. Some dresses combine knit tops with chiffon and orangza skirts and many gather beneath the bust. Models wore knee-high socks with stiletto heels with skirts, dresses and even pedal pushers. |
