Although Weardowney is a new label, its designers Gail Downey and Amy Wear, have 10 years experience designing knitwear for Galliano. The show took place in a hall at the Royal Institute of British Architects, one of London's most commanding buildings. It was an action-packed catwalk: the models meandered, danced, flirted with the audience, ate cake, snogged each other and generally had a brilliant time to a Bryan Ferry soundtrack and a vibed-up crowd. The collection is fun and frolicsome and, as you'd expect, there are some incredible crocheted and knitted pieces. There are knitted oversized undies for men (which, let's face it, are unlikely to be next season's big seller), some dapper men's suits (black velvet and pink) and cute men's tank tops alongside Mickey Mouse frocks, slashed skirts with bows, lots of luxurious wrapped knits as well as some intricate wool dresses.
