Preen is a west London label designed by partners Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi. Instead of opting to show in the BFC venue, they took us to West Brompton where, on the 29th floor of a modern glass building with amazing views, we waited. Scheduled to start at 12 noon, the show didn't start until 1.20pm. By about 1pm, one photographer had had enough - he packed up his kit and walked out. No reason for the delay was given and when the show did start, it all went smoothly despite earlier concerns over the polished floor (apparently, it was so slippery all the crew, including the company directors, had been on their hands and knees rubbing the polish off). The clean lines and slim silhouettes looked great emerging from white light with the London skyline as a backdrop. Womenswear includes tiny tweed shorts with cropped jacket, luxurious wrap coats (some with bags attached), knitted capes and a jersey dresses and skirts with holes cut into the fabric. There are military details on jackets and the classic flying jacket has been updated: Preen has created a fitted version with an asymmetrical front and a sexy, zip-up version in black. 'Flapper' dresses feature layers of upside down shirt collars. The men's pieces feature straight-leg corduroy trousers and soft grey tweed trousers, tweed jackets that wouldn't look out of place on Portobello Road.
