Karen Walker takes us on a trip back to the New York of the late 1970s, with her own take on Woody Allen's Annie Hall. A 21st century collection inspired by a 30 year old Woody Allen film sounds like a dodgy idea, but Karen Walker's Liberal and Miserable pulls it off. It's 70s all the way here, with trousers tucked into vintage leather boots, men's waistcoats, knitted beanies, floppy hats and skinny polo necks underneath everything! Karen teams cotton culottes with a high-collared blouse, velvet waistcoat and boots. An orange skinny polo neck jumper is worn underneath a denim boiler suit with fat turn ups. Tie belts which literally are ties feature on pieces including a stripy top, jumbo cord safari jacket and check shirt dresses. There are lots of practical pieces here including tweed skirts with pleats, cropped leather jackets, hooded check jackets and knitted scarves, as well as fun motifs like enormous alphabet print shopper bags and 'Hi There' slogan tops.
