John Rocha's show was staged in an elegant room at Claridges Hotel. It was filled to capacity with a very eager and excited audience. John is one of the most commercially successful designers to show at London Fashion Week and his clothes really do inspire passion and command respect. Working with a mainly black colour palette broken up with flashes of blue, gold, brown and grey, the collection offers Victorian-style glamour with an urchin edge. There are graduated jackets, transparent chiffon hooded blouses with exaggerated sleeves, worn with ruched waisted and belted wide trousers, mini trench coats and organza blouses. Knitted pieces are a central focus and pieces include chunky, oversized cable knit cardis and coats, fat, wool scarves and an outstanding dress made from crocheted panels with silk, jacquard and sequin. There is also an antique fabric theme in short, 'bed' jackets and on underskirts and sleeveless dresses with twisted backs.
