This was a cracking debut by Jean-Pierre Braganza, another CSM graduate unleashing his clothes on the world via an off-schedule catwalk show. Jean-Pierre was born in London, grew up in Canada and then returned to study at St Martins. Since graduating two years ago he has assisted Robert Cary-Williams and Roland Mouret. The collection was shown in a room at the Canadian Embassy. No champagne, no fancy catwalk but a tight show where you could really see the clothes. The tailoring is stunning. For women there are Tuxedo tops with slashed necklines, leather panels worked into narrow trousers, asymmetrical leather jackets and concertina pleated silky dresses again with plunging necklines. For guys there are modern takes on classic suiting and shirting: white dress shirt with oversized cuffs and sexy, loose-bottomed trousers with button details and fitted three button jackets. It's not often you see menswear this convincing during LFW. The audience literally left raving about the show.
