MotoFashionEast is the rebranded Fashion East, an established off-schedule event which has made great progress in helping upcoming designers gain recognition. This season, Roksanda Illincic kicked off the show with a collection featuring incredible Mondarian-esque prints, powerful, precise-cut dresses, printed hosiery and shoes which transvestites would die for. Then came Tatty Devine's evocative fairy tale fantasy which presented dresses/tunics as accessories. Pixie ears (really), socks accessorised with leather belts, Robin Hood hats and bejewelled eyebrows all contributed to surreal feel of this collection. Finally, new recruit Jonathan Saunders burst on the scene with an imaginative collection rich in prints - luscious postmodern wild swirls of turquoise, black and yellow. Silky kaftans, a dress with a fitted cape-like construction arranged around the head, fluted sleeves, Aladdin trousers, and mini dresses with spilt sleeves were accessorised with enormous plastic disc earings, wrapped headscarves and suede court shoes.
