Sage's latest collection entitled Russell Is History, seems to be based on a heady combination of oriental illustrations, origami, decayed decor and hard cash, with an underlying theme questioning the definition of value. Kimono-inspired silhouettes with broad shoulders and tucked waists feature alongside panelled dresses, fitted jackets, pleated frocks and flimsy, filmy shirts. An eclectic array of treasured materials which amplify Sage's examination of worth include the cover from a Victorian chair, vintage Chinese silk, blankets from a convent, tablecloths, hankies and a 1920s pelmet. Gold leafing, lettering and precious antique embroidery appear throughout and even the seating plan of the 2000 Fashion Awards has been printed onto a gathered skirt made from curtain lining. Perhaps the strongest and most sentimental piece is a dress described as "26.12.1960 - 2.30pm", this is a crumbling wedding gown once worn by Sage's mum rescued from storage after 40 years.
