Against a backdrop of grainy black and white snapshots, Maria Chen's collection is dark in colour and atmosphere. Dominated throughout by black, hints of red, turquoise, cerise and white enliven the gothic ragamuffin vibe. For women there are leather frill or pleated minis, peasant style blouses dripping gold chains, Parisian hooker style outfits, a gunmetal grey leather jumpsuit, a plunging V-neck evening dress and a floor-sweeping sheepskin coat. Maria's men can choose Cossack style trousers, T-shirts and fitted black leather jackets with "Eltham" scrawled backwards across them, a funeral style coat with attached pleated cape, bias-cut, elephant cord trousers and mini dress length Aran sweaters. In the event of a Maria Chen wedding, a white dress is a mass of runs and ladders.
