If you want to stay warm and still look cool in winter 2001/02, look to John Rocha. With a simple colour scheme of black and ivory, Rocha uses bold details and interesting fabrics to create a collection that juxtaposes soft and cosy with edginess. For instance, softly draped blouses, jumbo knit sweaters and antique-looking lace are teamed with mean wet-look black fabrics and jackets and coats in hard shapes. Recurring elements include voluminous sleeves which gather at the cuff, elasticated waistbands which result in sharp gathers above and below the waist, asymmetric sleeves, large random circular patterns and asymmetric wrap-over fastenings on jackets and coats. For men there's teddy boy suits worn with slim ties, asymmetrically fastened jackets and Captain Birdseye cream poloneck jumpers.
