The grandeur of the Royal Opera House's Floral Hall was a perfect setting for Elspeth Gibson's show. Silhouettes span from lean (with lots of close cut hipster trousers and tight-fitting dresses) to full (knee-length full circle skirts). Her tailoring skills are strong this season with gorgeous wool trouser suits, skirt suits and snazzy velvet trouser suits. Transparent chiffon embellished tops, one-shoulder frocks, 70s print outfits and tie blouses suggest retro, but clever cutting and careful styling brings the collection totally up-to-date. Accessories include cool trilby hats, skinny leather tie belts and scraves worn around the waist. The colour palette embraces wintry country shades of mulberry, deep red, midnight blue as well as softer shades of green and cream. Eveningwear is upfront and glamorous with sexy sequinned dresses with plunging necklines, glitter tops and jackets.
