Betty Jackson's winter collection is heavy on sumptuous colour, pattern and texture and in places even has a summery look. Jackson wants to get away from the idea of old-fashioned, coordinated dressing and instead guide wearers to become free spirits. This means mixing a summery rose patterned skirt (to the knee) with a rough, rolled hem stone coloured jumper. Colour is crucial for Jackson's winter wardrobe - scarletts, blues, greens - are interspersed with bone and bitter chocolate. Patterns are at times floral or graphic - miniature checker board woven coats and block print shirts. Shimmer is also important, a halter neck dress is strewn with painterly strokes of vibrant sequins, a skirt has giant polka dot sequins and a coat has glitter sprinkled over the arms. Hand painted chiffon flowers bonded to coats, shaggy jackets (of hooped felt) and the 'dissolving' hem of a coat create tactile textures.
