BACKSTAGE AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

Backstage at London Fashion Week: the lowdown on the latest hair and make-up trends.

BACKSTAGE...

Some of the hottest hairdressers and make-up artists work behind-the-scenes at Fashion Week experimenting with looks that inspire new trends. fuk reporter Bex Harvey went backstage to get a glimpse of the shapes and shades to come.
Hair

London Fashion Week shows for winter 00/01 saw the return of dressing hair - in plaits, chignons and buns.

At Michiko Koshino, Rapunzel-like plaits were in abundance...

At both Elspeth Gibson and Clements Ribeiro hair was scraped back into chignons....

At Tristan Webber sleek looks were nowhere to be seen....

Make-up

Throughout this Fashion Week, whether the catwalk make-up was theatrical or sophisticated, there was one trend in common - colour. For those who hate natural looks, nude make-up was nowhere to be seen. There's also good news for the facially hirsute - thicker eyebrows are back and were actually thickened at Clements Ribeiro. The idea that either the eyes or the lips are the main emphasis continues with brightly coloured lips being the most popular choice.

For Elspeth Gibson's show make-up artist Val Garland created a modern take on 1950s glamour....

Clements Ribeiro's backstage seemed to really love the show make-up, the strong lip colour was fuchsia....

At the Michiko Koshino shows, eyes were the focal point of the face....

Webber's collection is named after the chemical formula for adrenaline....
