For winter 2000 Alexandre Herchovitch explores what is hidden and protected under the fabric of a garment. This translates into pleats, exposed seaming and seams used to create patterns. Colours are reminiscent of bodies - blood red, flesh, bone - contrasting with dark night blues, browns, greys and black. Fabrics include wool, cashmere and silk and high-tech yarns. Pleats are the main focus of the collection. They appear horizontally and vertically on trousers and skirts (men's and women's), dresses and tops. There are voluminous, deep pleat wool trousers (for men and women), flat fronted triangle denim skirts, pleated at the rear, jackets with pleats at the elbow to replicate creases, a fully pleated square neck top with inverted pleats falling open to create unruly ruffles. Suit tailoring is another key theme, a blue check skinny-waisted skirt suit, with gently flowing skirt to the knee and hip length wide shouldered jackets with wide trousers for the boys.
