Northampton students certainly like turning abstract ideas into fashion. Vicky Shelsher questioned fashion's 'relevance as a lifestyle product' in a collection which consists of white pieces including a coat and skirt in an embossed fabric which looks like anaglypta wallpaper. An exploration of spirituality, chakras and Japanese aesthetics resulted in Kymm Holloway's collection of tattered muslin and textured rags. Meanwhile Georgina Harper's collection, which portrays beauty and decay, consists of ragged but beautiful soft woollen bustle dresses, with hair fringing. The concept of beauty was also the starting point of Abi Bamforth's collection of very wearable red and black pieces, with strange moulded, solid plastic sections. Her models stormed up and down  the catwalk like a gang of Marilyn Manson clones. The Russian revolution and the artist Malevich inspired Louisa Bonfield's directional collection of soft fabrics, including sheepskin, in hard angular shapes, whilst Angela Da Silva's inspiration was much closer to home. Her collection is based on the catering trade and included aprons, checks and ginghams associated with the kitchen, bringing new meaning to the word 'cookware'. Margaret Thatcher's style is distorted by Leiah Lamplough into nylon aqua pleated skirts printed with Maggie's face and oversized pussycat bows. Andi Harrison and Mark Hart explore war in their interesting collections with the former presenting an interpretation of eco-warriors where nature and war are brought together in heavily draped camouflage outfits. Meanwhile Mark Hart showed a sensitive collection inspired by the human casualties of war, which includes rough blanket fabrics, concentration camp uniform stripes and a dress that seems to bleed from the chest. Victoria Williams 's collection, 'Cut N Thrust' reworks the 80s power suit in slashed pinstripe and contrasting belts.
