The Thursday Show

Middlesex University turned Japanese for the opening of this afternoon's show with a display of hand-painted kimonos.
A rainbow of colour, the collection includes hand-painted cards repeating the motifs from the garments.

High sweeping collars à la Morticia from The Addams Family themes the FNK collection. Luxurious satin corsets in of gun-metal grey, deep mauve and black mix with slim-fitting trousers and ground-sweeping skirts.

Pockets on both taper to a peak and high-waisted dresses come with loose fabric ties. Glimpses of stretch ruching feature in panels on dresses, particularly waistlines.
The most eclectic mix of designs to hit the catwalk came from Phil Groovy. Starting with suede fringed dresses reminiscent of an American Indian squaw (left), the collection dipped into baby-doll 1960s inspired dresses with netting and fluffy feathers, medieval tunics with big leather belts and for the finale, a bloke in big boots and a skirt with the words 'Free Hemp' emblazoned across the front.

Designer Bianca Tobin includes well-tailored trousers and shorts with fringed hems in her menswear collection (left).Colours range from muted sandy browns to greens and oranges and coloured panels on button up shirts and baggy trousers similar to those worn by 1980s pop star MC Hammer, add interest to an otherwise straight collection.

Italian duo Cesar Santos and Lyon Choy provided some light entertainment (right) with their collection of womenswear. Models bedecked in beads and dragging muscle-bound men on chains pranced down the catwalk. The dresses expose more than they cover, with netting the major feature. Wedding trains come complete with their own balloons encased inside.

Finally, Southwark College ventured into an early Easter Parade with big paper bonnets and top hats adding impact to a collage of designs.

1960s psychedelic waistcoats and dresses mix with bright orange kimonos and wrap skirts in a collection which exudes all the brilliant shades of a multi-coloured spring.
