Gimps, silver helmets and Flat Eric. Sarah Louise Taylor reports on the final day of Alternative Fashion Week.

The closing collections of a weird and wonderful week did not disappoint. The show kick-started with simple, autumnal ranges from Waltham Forest College and Taro Okubo who both heavily used neutral, woodland shades with the occasional flash of bright colour. The theme then swung from organic to manufactured with Charlie Watkins' streetwear that combines blocks of aqua blue plastic, indigo denim, and chunky silhouettes inspired by supermarket packaging.
Amongst several subtle, and utterly wearable, collections came the latest body jewelry range by William Griffiths. An array of pierced models encased in silver armour certainly shocked curious passers-by. The pieces, which are beautifully crafted and reminiscent of a subversive sexual fantasy, would sit well in the wardrobe of any comic book heroine.

Another highlight of the day, was the flirtatious and feminine collection presented by Jessica Dougherty. Her range features Chalayan-esque pleats and pretty ruffled evening dresses in jet black.

As expected, the show stealing grand finale was provided by Rubbercare. The label's range, which has been described as undescribable, includes rubber y-fronts, bondage jackets, maids outfits, a revealing cowboy suit and practically everything else that you'd expect from a fetishwear company. Mixed with a couple of transvestites, gimps, dominators and a Flat Eric puppet, Rubbercare's wild bunch of mis-shapen models made sure that the audience was left with their mouths wide open and their hands clapping.
