Amrik has returned to Savile Row and plans to stay at Gieves and Hawkes for the time being. "I feel that tailoring is the key to British fashion," he confesses and so there is no better place to learn the craft than on the UK's ultimate tailoring street.

After its heyday in the 60s when pop stars and Mods redefined the street's stiff English image, Savile Row - along with the art of tailoring - seemed to go into quiet decline. Now through Alexander McQueen (who served his apprenticeship there) and Timothy Everest (Tom Cruise's favourite tailor), Savile Row is hip again.

"I am really confident," says Amrik. "Because I have been working alongside Andrew Gomez - the best tailor in the world." But Amrik's own ambitions go beyond tailoring. "I'm very fond of tailoring but the rules don't change and I would like to progress it - I don't want to be labelled as just a tailor."
