Lavender is one of nature's greatest relaxants. There are many varieties of lavender available, it's inexpensive and one of the most versatile oils around. For an instant calm fix, simply pop a few drops onto a tissue and inhale. Or, to create a calm atmosphere, add a few drops to a bowl of boiling water and place in a room. The lavender oil will slowly evaporate and fill the room.

If you have more time, immerse yourself in the magical mellowness of an aromatherapy bath. Run the water and then add about 8-10 drops of lavender oil, swish around with your hand and then jump in. Try and spend a least ten minutes lying there (forget shaving your legs and armpits or pumicing your feet, just lie there!). You will emerge renewed (this will also sort out a hangover).
